Lens Fragment Removal from the Anterior Chamber Using Cannula Aspiration

چکیده
before concluding the surgical procedure, these complications can be prevented. We describe a case in which a lenticular fragment is identified and describe a novel technique of using a cannula to remove the piece rather than the typical re-insertion of the irrigation/aspiration handpiece which can actually create turbulent flow and lead to loss of the fragment under the iris or in the ciliary sulcus.

Hydro-visco-implantation Technique for Wound-assisted Foldable Intraocular Lens Implantation During Microincision Cataract Surgery
We have described a hydro-visco-implantation technique (simultaneous use of sodium hyaluronate and balanced salt solution) for wound-assisted intraocular lens (IOL) implantation and passive removal of ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD). In the technique, the capsular bag was filled approximately up to half with OVD, and anterior chamber was formed by bimanual irrigation cannula with continuo...
متن کاملRetrospective Study of Vitreous Tap Technique Using Needle Aspiration for Management of Shallow Anterior Chamber during Phacoemulsification
PURPOSE To evaluate the technique of vitreous tap using needle aspiration for management of anterior chamber shallowness during phacoemulsification. METHODS A retrospective study included 26 eyes of 17 patients who underwent phacoemulsification in which vitreous tap was performed using a 27-gauge needle attached to a 5 ml syringe, inserted 3.5 mm from the limbus to aspirate 0.2 ml of liquefie...
متن کاملModified lens aspiration needle.
Operative technique A cruciate incision of the anterior lens capsule is made with a Barkan goniotomy knife, the pupil having been fully dilated. This incision is enlarged with a keratome or a broad needle and the large-bore aspiration needle is introduced into the anterior chamber attached to a 5 ml. syringe of normal saline. Aspiration and irrigation are then performed through the same needle ...
متن کاملRetained IOL fragment and corneal decompensation after pseudophakic IOL exchange.
A 72-year-old man had exchange of a foldable silicone multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) by transection, removal, and monofocal IOL replacement. One month after the exchange, irreversible corneal edema developed and penetrating keratoplasty was performed. At the time of the corneal transplant, a small silicone fragment was discovered in and removed from the anterior chamber. Histologic evaluatio...
متن کاملUse of the phaco tip technique for lens cleavage and removal during cataract surgery
Use of the phaco tip technique for lens cleavage and removal does not require manual hydrodissection using a syringe and cannula, or cortical removal using an irrigation/aspiration tip. The phaco tip is the only surgical instrument required for this technique. Its advantages include maintaining a stable intraocular pressure during cortical cleaving hydrodissection and lens removal, which includ...
